What is a Pip?
A pip (percentage in point) is the smallest standard price movement in a currency pair. It represents the fourth decimal place in most pairs, or the second decimal place in JPY pairs.
Most Pairs
1 pip = 0.0001
e.g. EUR/USD: 1.08450 → 1.08460
JPY Pairs
1 pip = 0.01
e.g. USD/JPY: 149.500 → 149.510
How Pip Value is Calculated
The pip value depends on your lot size, the pip size for the pair, and the exchange rate between the quote currency and your account currency.
Formula
Pip Value = Lot Units × Pip Size × Quote-to-Account Rate
For example, 1 standard lot of EUR/USD with a USD account:
100,000 × 0.0001 × 1.00 = $10.00 per pip
